SHAFIQ HUSAYN FEAT. HIATUS KAIYOTE | CYCLES REVIEW

– THE CHARM OFFENSIVE –

Shafiq Husayn clearly has an aura about him. Either that or some pretty dodgy photos of some very influential people.

The list of collaborators on his new The Loop record reads like fantasy dinner guest list filled with modern Soulquarians.

Flying Lotus. Erykah Badu. Bilal. Anderson .Paak. Thundercat. Kamasi Washington. It doesn’t stop there.

On Cycles it’s the turn of Hiatus Kaiyote. The Melbourne quartet bring the fire with their distinct brand of “future soul” while the horns and flutes add an effortless cool and vintage vibe.

Shafiq shatters the piece into a thousand particles on the outro as the beat trips over itself until conclusion.

The Loop is out now on Floating Points’ label, Eglo.
