RICHARD HOUGHTEN | “AMIGOS” | REVIEW

– THE PEACEFUL PROTEST –

Southern Californian multi-instrumentalist Richard Houghten (who some of you will know as Bloomypetal) brings the beaches, lite-beers and bleach-blonde vibes of the Golden State to us on his newest record, Music for Drifters

Amigos is a multi-layered, bliss-out of acoustic guitar lines and electrified gamelan-esque percussion that would make even a hyper-animated amigo like Speedy Gonzalez kick back with a coke and a smile.

In this windy, clusterfuck of an English Winter, my professional recommendation is that you ingest vast quantities of this and get high on it ahead of the inevitable early-April UK heatwave we can no doubt thank Global Warming for. Thereafter, wait for the glorious comedown that will be bathed in beautiful Summer rain and soundtracked by the sublimeness that is Richard Houghten.

Music for Drifters is out now.

NUBIYAN TWIST | “SUGAR CANE”
