– THE QUIET RIOT –
Listening to Zalina is like being honeytrapped by a Bond Girl.
It’s sexier than hell but fucking dangerous.
Over an hypnotic bed of electronic production are layered vaguely threatening Anatolian darbuka beats and the outright sinister-sounding traditional Romanian instrumentation of Sașa-Liviu Stoianovici.
As if that weren’t enough, Sașa-Liviu whispers his mystical incantations into your ears. ‘But what is he talking about?’, I hear you cry!
“Zalina is about a strong-minded, beautiful girl and a man who is desperately in love with her” says Stoianovici. Which is a posh way of saying “honeytrapped by a Bond girl”.
The track is currently only available as a single with no mention, yet, of an album.
But they have released the above video to accompany it, in which the sexy Eastern European temptress you have in your mind will be indelibly replaced with the actualisation that those vocals come from a hairy-arsed bloke.
Soz, yeah.
