– GUERRILLA WARFARE –
It’s at times like these that I’m glad 45 RPM is no longer released in podcast format. Cos fuck knows how you’re supposed to pronounce either the artist or song title here. Fortunately, a little bit of insider knowledge reveals Mr. ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ to actually be Kieran Hebden, better known by his stage name Four Tet. He shall therefore be referred to as either Hebden or Four Tet from here on in. Or perhaps simply as ‘the twat’ for making my life hard.
Latest EP, ooo ̟̞̝̜̙̘̗̖҉̵̴̨̧̢̡̼̻̺̹̳̲̱̰̯̮̭̬̫̪̩̦̥̤̣̠҈͈͇͉͍͎͓͔͕͖͙͚͜͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢ͅ oʅ͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡( ؞ৢ؞ؙؖ⁽⁾˜ัิีึื์๎้็๋๊⦁0 ̟̞̝̜̙̘̗̖҉̵̴̨̧̢̡̼̻̺̹̳̲̱̰̯̮̭̬̫̪̩̦̥̤̣̠҈͈͇͉͍͎͓͔͕͖͙͚͜͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢ͅ ఠీੂ೧ູ࿃ूੂ (to be henceforth referred to as ‘this EP’… FFS!) is actually the twat’s sixth release under the alias, though some of them could be doubling up on tracks for all I know; I’m not forensically examining song titles.

Final track on this EP ࿃ूੂ࿃ूੂੂ࿃ूੂOOOOOOOOOOOO ̟̞̝̜̙̘̗̖҉̵̴̨̧̢̡̼̻̺̹̳̲̱̰̯̮̭̬̫̪̩̦̥̤̣̠҈͈͇͉͍͎͓͔͕͖͙͚͜͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢͢ͅ ooooooooo is a mind-bending meld of part electronic, part world-music percussive stylings that manages to marry an eminently danceable rhythm with a cross between something deeply meditative and deliciously messy.
Like gamelan for the Garageband generation, it’s simultaneously one of the most rootsy and revolutionary things I’ve heard in a long time.
